FLY TO BAKU / 31 OCTOBER — 02 NOVEMBER İn the framework of this Festival the City of Baku turned to the stage for a landmark cultural initiative. Museums, palaces, city streets and cultural locations including Baku Marionette Theatre had hosted exhibitions, performances, concerts, and encounters that unite Azerbaijan’s creative spirit with the international art world.

Baku Marionette Theatre had arranged its another event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the great Azerbaijan composer and playwright Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The event was organized with participation of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On October 23, a charity show was performed for the kids from the Children’s Social Service Institution “Orphanage No. 1” and the beneficiaries of the Social Service Institution No. 2 for persons with disabilities. The musical comedy “Arshin Mal Alan” by Uzeyir Hajibeyli was shown to our lovely guests.

On September 18, 2025, Baku Marionette Theatre joins the entire of our Nation celebrating the 140th anniversary of the outstanding cultural figure, brilliant Azerbaijani composer and playwright Uzeyir Bey Hajibeyli. For many years his musical comedy "Arshin Mal Alan" and mugham opera "Leyli and Majnun" are performed in our theatre being re-staged our marionette shows. It is a great honor for us to serve in preserving and continuing his legacy – the great treasure of the Nation! And every time we perform for an audience, we feel both the responsibility and the joy of this honorable task. To honor the memory of the immortal composer on this significant day, we visited the Alley of Honor and decorated Uzeyir Bey's grave with flowers. You will forever stay among us, our dear Uzeyir Bey!

In connection with the International Children’s Day, a meeting with a group of children from the Orphanage Service Institutions No.2 and No.3 was held at the Baku Marionette Theatre with participation of the Centre for Traditional Crafts of the “Icherisheher” Historical and Architectural Reserve Administration and in cooperation with the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Our young guests enjoyed communicating, drawing pictures, colouring tiny “The Maiden Tower” plates, and watching fragments of the “Arshin Mal Alan” musical presented by Ayten Gurbanova and Fikret Hajiyev, the youngest puppeteers of our theatre.

In May 2025, the 90th anniversary of the outstanding Azerbaijani literature figure – People's Writer, Laureate of the State Prize, famous public person Magsud Ibrahimbeyov was celebrated. Since the beginning of 2025, in accordance with the special Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, various anniversary events focused on his life and work have been held in our country. Today the team of Baku Marionette Theatre also has visited the house-museum of M.Ibrahimbeyov, where the dedicated staff and their director Anna Ibrahimbeyova, the writer’s widow, met our delegation with great hospitality.
